Cell Backup/Long-Range Radio

A few years ago, burglars realized a weakness in security systems and began cutting phone lines before entering premises. This action would disable the security system's ability to contact the central monitoring station. Even though sirens would still go off, the police would not be called because there is no dial tone. Commercial buildings in non-residential areas are most vulnerable to this type of activity, especially during the hours when most people are asleep at home.

Cell backup and long-range radio signals were adopted to counter this action. In the event the phone lines are cut, the central station is contacted via this system and the police are notified immediately. Typical cost for this system is $400 for the equipment and installation and $16 per month for wireless network access.
